Thyristors for precision control
Discrete thyristors serve as unidirectional or bidirectional solid-state switches and provide overvoltage protection in electronic devices. Given the variety of thyristor types, some applications necessitate multiple thyristor configurations. Littelfuse addresses these requirements by manufacturing various types of silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) thyristors, triodes for alternating current (TRIACs), and Quadracs, which integrate TRIACs with diodes for alternating current (DIACs). Additionally, standalone DIACs for thyristor gate triggering are available. These thyristors are utilized in applications such as motor speed control, lighting regulation, and heater management.
