About Sirio Inductive Components
Sirio Elettronica is an Italian private company specialized in the development and production of safety inductive components for high frequency converters dedicated to industrial applications. For over 40 years Sirio products are applied by producers of Welding Machines, Battery Chargers, Motor Drives, UPS, Power Supplies, Energy Meters, Railways Converters and all other high frequency applications where safety isolation and reliability are required.Â
Sirio offers a combination of standard parts
- Pulse TransformersÂ
- AC Current TransformersÂ
- Switch Mode TransformersÂ
- InductorsÂ
Pulse & Drive transformers
Pulse transformers are used in high frequency power converters, when it is required to transfer an electrical pulse from the control to the power stage, keeping the galvanic isolation between the circuits, according to the safety standards related to each different application fields. The electrical signal is applied to the primary side and transferred to the secondary side, to fire power BJTs, power MOSFETs, IGBTs, SCRs, GTO and TRIACs.Â
AC Current Transformers
Sirio manufactures three types of current transformers. The common aspect among all these parts is the fact that they are passive components (purely magnetic), so they are capable of measuring only AC currents. Â
1. Current transformers for mains frequency applicationsÂ
The first group is represented by current transformers suitable for mains frequency applications (50-60 Hz). The typical application of these components is UPS, in which you need to measure a mains frequency current. In the mains frequency current transformers group we have CT’s of various current ratings from 25 to 600 Arms, equipped either with pins or with fast on male connectors.
2. Current transformers for high-accuracy measurement applications
The second group are current transformers designed for high-accuracy measurement applications. The typical application of these components is energy meters or quality network analyzers. The magnetic core of those transformers is the key factor to perform an accurate measurement of the current with low phase displacement error. The current ratings are set between 5 and 50 Arms and those parts can be provided both with center hole to pass the cable through or for PCB mounting.
3. Current transformers for high-frequency applicationsÂ
The third group regards current transformers used in high-frequency applications for control circuits and the protection of electronic switching devices. These components are used not for an accurate measurement, but to get a prompt response in the control loop of SMPS.
Switch Mode Transformers
Switch Mode Transformers are defined as low-power transformers for SMPS when their power rating is up to 1 kW, and they are typically mounted on a PCB. Transformers with a higher power rating are referred to as power transformers. Currently, Sirio can manufacture transformers with power ratings up to 20 kW using its fully automated production line, and up to 30 kW for more manually assembled transformers.Â
Inductors
Output inductors to limit the current surge in DC/DC converters. Inductors for non-insulated converters, including PFC, Boost, Buck, and Buck-Boost converters.
