CAH power resistors
These resistors are part of the lower power range within aluminum-housed variants. They are primarily employed in DC-link applications for charging and discharging, as well as in compact inverter drive systems to function as brake resistors.
Aluminum has been selected as the housing material due to its resistance to corrosion, non-magnetic properties, lightweight yet durable nature, and its excellent heat conductivity. These resistors are fully insulated, with no exposed live components.
The rated power for these resistors ranges from 42 to 190 watts when cooled by natural air convection. Higher power levels can be achieved by using additional heatsinks or forced air cooling. They are designed to work with a working voltage of 600VAC / 850VDC according to UL standards, and 690VAC / 975VDC according to IEC standards. The standard level of ingress protection is IP50, but an optional IP54 level can be provided upon request. These resistors come with 300mm long high-temperature cables, with custom cable lengths available upon request. The cables range from AWG 16 to AWG 14 and are selected based on the Ohm value and nominal power rating of the resistor.
The overload capacity of these resistors varies depending on the Ohm value and the resistor’s size, ranging from 7 to 20 times the nominal power rating over a 5-second period. Additionally, an optional thermal switch is available to provide overtemperature signaling.
