Features and benefits

Danotherm CBH resistors bear UL approval and are passive, air-cooled power resistors encased in compact aluminum housings. These housings provide robust protection against the intrusion of solids and liquids. They find their primary application in small inverter drive systems, serving as brake resistors.

The choice of aluminum as the housing material is rooted in its non-corrosive and non-magnetic properties, as well as its lightweight yet durable nature. Additionally, aluminum boasts excellent heat-conducting capabilities. These resistors are fully insulated and devoid of any exposed live components. The primary resistive element comprises a Nickel-Chrome alloy with minimal thermal drift, enhancing accuracy.

The nominal power rating spans from 160 to 1700W, relying on natural air convection cooling. This series incorporates cooling fins to optimize heat dissipation. For higher power requirements, forced air cooling can be employed. The standard working voltage, in accordance with UL, stands at 600VAC / 850VDC, while complying with IEC standards yields 690VAC / 975VDC. Optionally, a version with 1000VAC/1400VDC is available.

Standard ingress protection is rated at IP50, with the possibility of offering IP54 or IP65 as alternatives. Electrical connections are facilitated by 300mm long high-temperature cables, with custom lengths available upon request. These cables range from AWG 16 to AWG 10 and are selected based on Ohm value and nominal power rating.

The overload factor is contingent on the Ohm value and resistor size, ranging between 8 to 18 times the nominal power rating over a 5-second interval. As an added feature, an integrated thermal switch is available as an option for signaling overtemperature conditions.
