Danotherm GRT series resistors are high-power resistors that compose one or more steel tubes welded together into a frame. The resistive element is an active wire inside the steel tube coated with corrosion-resistant AISI 304 stainless steel. Magnesium oxide material containing excellent electrical and thermal properties and the aluminum housing significantly enhances the resistor.
The supporting structure and terminal box are made with AISI 304 stainless steel. Optionally they can be made with AISI 316 stainless steel for improved resistance to chemicals and chlorides.
Nominal power ratings for Danotherm GRT resistors range from 3 to 32 kW, and the working voltages are 1000 VAC / 1400 VDC. Depending on the resistor, the overload capacity can reach 10 times the nominal power ratings for a 5-second pulse per 120s cycle or 7 times the nominal power rating for a 10-second pulse per 120s cycle. GRT resistors cool via natural convection.
GxxRT resistors include a thermal switch as a standard feature for overtemperature protection. Moisture protection is also available as a standard feature. We offer an option that prevents direct contact with hot surfaces by way of a protection grid.
Danotherm GRT resistors are IP65/IP66 rated and are used in harsh environments as braking resistors for cranes and winches for harbor or marine applications.
